Sacred sound, taught and kept alive, with the rigor of a university and the reverence of a temple.
A proposed scholarly home for a living performing tradition, set on HUA's lakeside Pine Lake Retreat campus.
The premise
Hindu sacred and Indian classical music, from Vedic chant to dhrupad, Carnatic and Hindustani forms and the dance traditions tied to them, have thrived in the United States in living rooms, temples and occasional university programs. The concept proposes a dedicated academic and performance home rather than another borrowed stage.
Acoustically tuned for chant
A hall shaped for the unamplified voice and acoustic classical instruments, with carved diffusion and an intimate fan curve.
Sacred-sound dome
A permanent spatial-audio listening installation, the signature space of the concept.
Livestream-native
Performances recorded and, with consent, broadcast and folded into curriculum as primary material.
Lakeside amphitheater
An outdoor stage for year-round evening concerts under the Florida sky.
The academic anchor (proposed)
Proposed BA and MA tracks spanning Vedic chant, Indian classical theory and performance, devotional traditions across the subcontinent, ethnomusicology of sacred sound, and recording and broadcast technology. Graduates would perform and contextualize. No enrollment, accreditation or launch date is claimed here.
